The pipe coupling has a cylindrical tube with a smooth end section pushed onto a pipe fitting. A seal ring is mounted between the pipe and fitting. In the annular space between the fitting outer wall and the pipe inner wall is a metal shell (31,38) which can move on the fitting. The length of the metal shell is selected so that the covering between the pipe (2.1,2.2) and fitting matches. There is a stop or marking to limit the pushing together of the pipe and fitting on joining.
