The invention relates to a method for producing a cable (CA1) in which the different leads (AD1 to ADn) are fed to a stranding device (RE, RA) which produces a stranded bundle (SB1). The material (MMA1) for the cable sheath (MA1) is applied to the thus produced stranded bundle (SB1) by means of an extrusion head (ED1), and the stranding point is near the extrusion head (EK1). The individual leads (AD1 to ADn) are brought into contact with the material (MMA1) for the cable sheath (MA1) as soon as or before they have been completely stranded to form a stranded bundle (SB1).
