The present invention provides a detergent tablet comprising: a) a compressed portion comprising active detergent components; b) a non compressed, nonencapsulating portion comprising active detergent components. Detergent components which are sensitive to compression can be incorporated into tablets and greater control of washing processes can be achieved.
