Flat square parquet components or flagstones of roughly 0.5 m2 surface area are secured by adhesive (5) at the underside to plates (4) of expanded plastic. These are offset obliquely sideways in relation to them, and comprises a thin high-density top layer (4b) and a thicker bottom one (4a) of lower density. Wooden parquet blocks can have tongues and grooves (2, 3) at adjacent side edges. High-tensile reinforcing blocks strips can be incorporated at intervals in the plastic plates at the corners, edges and/or middle, being inserted or formed by foam.
