The invention concerns a device for locking up a motor vehicle door (1) comprising a first element fixed (3) to a structural element (4) of the motor vehicle and a second element (2) fixed to the door, said first element (3) co-operating with said second element (2) to lock the door in closed position. The invention is characterised in that said first element (3) has a body (7) urged to be inserted into an opening (25) of said second element (2) when the door (1) is closed, said second element (2) comprising retaining means (6) preventing the body (7) from moving in the opposite direction.
