FIELD: disinfection and sterilization of various objects, decontamination and preservation of drinking water from open air fresh water reservoirs (rivers and lakes), subterranean sources and communal water supply system. Said disinfecting aqueous solution in also useful as preserving agent in food and pharmacological industries. SUBSTANCE: silver ion-based disinfecting aqueous solution comprises food acid, the ratio of componently being as follows (wt %): <EMI ID=0.252 HE=6 WI=30 TI=CHI> silver ions; 0.25-5.0 citric or acetic acid; and the distilled water balance. As it obvious from the present invention, silver ions are not allowed to react with substances which are active towards silver and lower concentration of silver ions is thus prevented and do not decrease bactericidal properties of disinfecting aqueous solution in the course of time or when exposed to light.
