The handle 13 of a door lock' or latch has formed integral therewith a shaft 14 by means of which it is rotatably mounted in a door-plate 10, the shaft 14 having secured to its end a flat plate 16 provided with a nose portion 18 which, when the handle is turned, is adapted to compress a spring 20 housed within a metal tube 21, the latter being mounted on the door-plate 10 and having a longitudinal slot 23 for the passage of said nose portion. Further nose portions 26, 17 are provided on the flat plate 16 for cooperating with a projection 19 formed on the inside of the door-plate 10 to limit the movement of the handle 13. For the purpose of mounting the tube 21 it has a closed end with a projecting stud 24 for engaging a hole in a lug 25 on the door-plate 10. Preferably a small rivet 22 is provided between the end of the compression spring 20 and the nose portion 18. The handle 13 may be reversible, so that it can be used with left or right hand doors, in which case the doorplate 10 has a further lug 27 similar to the lug 25.</p> |
