A convertible toy vehicle comprises a chassis with removable wheel axles and a single conversion member removably connected to the chassis in different positions to resemble different types of vehicle, the conversion member having at one end a shoulder of substantially triangular section. As shown in Fig. 1, a conversion member 1 has a rounded front end 2, a cutout 12 and a pedestal 3 with an inclined upper surface 20. To form a tip truck, the member 1 is placed on a chassis 6, Fig. 3, so that the cutout 12 fits over a trunnion pin 11, the front end 2 engaging a recess in a cab 15 and half bearings 7 fitting over an axle 9 which is supported in half bearings on the chassis. A box type body 16 having a shaft 17, Fig. 3, is pivoted in half bearings 18 in the pedestal and lower crossbars of stakes 36 and 37 are fitted into recesses 38 and 39 in the sides of the member 1. To form a crane, Fig. 4, a bore 19 in the inclined pedestal surface 20 is fitted over the trunnion pin 11, a cord 28, supporting a hook 29, is passed through a bore 34 at the tapered end of the member 1 and wound upon a crank shaft 24, Fig. 2 (not shown), between two annular flanges, the crank shaft 24 passing through a notch 22 and having a flattened projection which fits a slot 23 in member 1, Fig. 3. In a cable truck, Fig. 8, the bore 34 of the member 1 engages a trunnion 40 mounted on a cross member 41 of chassis 6, the wheel axle 9 having been removed from the chassis to support the member 1 at its half bearings 18 ; the stakes 36 and 37 are laid on the member 1 with their extensions 44 and 45 retained in position by guide lugs 46, 47 and 48 to form lateral enclosures for a load 42. A towing truck, Fig. 5 (not shown), wherein sidewall portions 33 of the conversion member 1 pass through a cutout in the platform 5 and a lumber truck, Fig. 6 (not shown), wherein the member 1 is trailed behind the chassis 5, the bore 34 of the member 1 engaging over the trunnion pin 11, and wheels 31 and their axle supporting the member at half bearings 7 are also described.
