Quinacridone mixed crystal pigments comprise (a) 85-99 wt.% unsubstituted quinacridone (IA) of the beta -phase and (b) 1-15 wt.% substituted quinacridone(s) (IB), of formula (I); in which (IA) R<1>, R<2> = hydrogen (H); (IB) R<1>, R<2> = Cl, Br, F, 1-4C alkyl, 1-4C alkoxy or carbonamido groups, optionally substituted by 1-6C alkyl, and R<1> may also = H. Also claimed is a method of preparing the pigment.
