摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an accumulator type fuel injection system capable of controlling its fuel injection with higher accuracy through an attenuation in the pressure wave depending on the running states of an internal combustion engine and a reduction in the pressure loss due to passage resistance at a high- speed or high-load operation of the engine. SOLUTION: An accumulator type fuel injector for an internal combustion engine comprises a fuel injection valve 5, which introduces high-pressure fuel stored in an accumulator into a control chamber 32 through a fuel feed pipe 4 to press its valve element 23 down with the pressure of the high-pressure fuel or to close fuel injection holes 21, and bleeds the control chamber 32 of high-pressure fuel through a fuel vent passage 34 to reduce the pressure on the valve element 23 or to open the injection holes 21. The feed pipe 4 connecting the accumulator and the injection valve 5 together is formed with a variable orifice 13 having a cross-sectional passage area adapted to be varied in accordance with high-pressure fuel propagating therethrough.
