PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce the subject new compound, composed of a structure without containing a P-O-C bond weak in heat and hydrolytic resistances and capable of modifying an adhesive composition, a coating material composition, etc., by (co)polymerization and imparting functional properties such as high heat resistance and excellent chemical stability thereto. SOLUTION: This compound is represented by formula I [R<1> is H or methyl; A is a 3-10C (branched)alkylene; R<2> is H, a 1-20C (branched) alkyl, a cycloalkyl, a (substituted) phenyl or benzyl], e.g. (3-methacryloyloxypropyl)octylphosphinic acid. The compound represented by formula I is obtained by reacting a compound represented by formula II with an unsaturated alcohol in the presence of a radical initiator, providing a compound represented by formula III and then reacting the resultant compound with (meth)acrylic acid in the presence of an acidic catalyst and a phase-transfer catalyst. |
