PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove paper dust causing trouble in printing effectively by arranging a member sliding on a recording medium on the upstream side in the paper carrying direction of a recording head to remove paper powder therefrom on the carrier for the recording head traveling in the main scanning direction while being guided by a guide member. SOLUTION: A cutter 7 for cutting a long sheet S at a required position is mounted on a carriage 4 on the upstream side in the paper carrying direction of a recording head 3. A cleaner 8 is interposed between the recording head 3 and the cutter 7 such that the cleaner 8 slides on the surface of the long sheet S. When the cutter 7 touches the long sheet S to cut off the long sheet S, a large quantity of paper powder is generated therefrom but it is wiped off sequentially by means of the cleaner 8 traveling in the main scanning direction along with the carriage 4 and prevented from adhering to the recording head 3. According to the arrangement, troubles including clogging of the nozzle or the wire guide hole in the recording head can be prevented. |
