PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide aluminum foil for an electrolytic capacitor in which coarse recrystallized grains are not generated after electrolytic etching treatment and free from the generation of foil cutting at the time of its coiling. SOLUTION: In producing aluminum foil for an electrolytic capacitor by subjecting an ingot of Al contg. 20 to 50 ppm Fe, 20 to 50 ppm Si, 5 to 50 ppm Cu, <=15 ppm Zn, and the balance Al with respectively <=30 ppm impurity elements to homogenizing treatment, next subjecting it to hot rolling and cold rolling and, after process annealing, executing cold rolling, as for the process annealing conditions, the temp. rising rate is is regulated to <=500 deg.C/hr, the holding temp. and time are regulated to 300 to 450 deg.C×0.5 to 5 hr, and the draft in the final cold rolling to be applied is regulated to 30 to 85%.
