PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording sheet having so-called plain sheet type including no special coating executed on a recording surface, excellent water resistance, image density and feathering of a recorded image and no discoloring of a printed part with time. SOLUTION: The ink jet recording sheet is paper-made by using timber pulp as main raw material and neutral rosin sizing agent as inside sizing agent and calcium carbonate as filler, and coating base sheet having 15% or less of base sheet ash content according to JIS P 8126 and 20 g/m<2> or less of 30 sec sizing degree according to a cup method stipulated in JIS P 8140 except 500 deg.C and 4 hours of ashing treatment, with coating liquid containing water soluble binder and cationic polymer fixing agent as main components. Gas permeability rate stipulated in JIS P 8117 of coated sheet is 40 sec or less. Preferably, a mixing ratio of the binder to the fixing agent of the coating liquid is 2:1 to 5:1, and pH of the liquid is 6.5 to 7.5. |
