PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a fragile web by applying heat and high pressure to a powdery conductive material and a thermoplastic binder of very fine powder. SOLUTION: A thermoplastic binder has to be of a very fine particle shape. Preferably the optimal particle diameter is 20μm or less on the average and the acceptable particle diameter is 40μm or less on the average. A feed roll 10 is equipped with a web 12 and a nicked roller 13 is provided in the downstream of the feed roll 10 and powder 14 is applied to the upper surface of the web 12, which is in turn, caused to pass through a nip 20 between a heated idler roller 22 and a drive roller 24. An air cylindrical form 26 maintains a specified pressure on the web 12 in the nip 20. The binder is heated at a higher temperature then its Vicat temperature as it enters the nip 20 gradually, when the web 12 is allowed to pass over a heated idle roller 22. In the nip 20, the binder material melts with a conductive material and further with a dielectric web 20. |
