PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain bacillus belonging to the genus Thermus having high proline productivity and useful as a diagnostic agent, an industrial catalyst, etc., by allowing the bacillus to hold γ-glutamyl kinase with released feed back inhibition by L-proline. SOLUTION: This bacillus belonging to the genus Thermus has released feed back inhibition, holds γ-glutamyl kinase such as a protein having an amino acid sequence of the formula in which the 125'th Ala residue is substituted with an amino acid residue without the Ala residue, and including substitution, deletion, insertion, addition or inversion of one or several amino acid residues without the 125'th amino acid residue, and has a destroyed L-protease degrading system. Preferably, the L-proline is produced by culturing the bacillus belonging to the genus Thermus in a medium in an aerobic atmosphere, allowing the L-proline to be formed and accumulated in the cultured material, and gathering the L-proline. |
