摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a maintenance mechanism for ink jet printer in which a belt body being used for maintenance can be moved toward a head without requiring any extra actuator, e.g. a motor or a solenoid. SOLUTION: When a carriage 3 moves to a maintenance area and pushes a lever 117 this way on the drawing, a driving force is transmitted through bevel gears 117a, 123a to oscillate a press piece 123 counterclockwise. Consequently, an arm 115 is also oscillated counterclockwise to project a press contact plate 89 in the direction of a nozzle head 31. Consequently, a roll paper 7 (band body) is brought into pressure contact with the nozzle face 36, as shown on the drawing, and the ink is wiped off. Since the roll paper 7 is moved toward the nozzle face 36 using the force of a motor (not shown) for moving the carriage 3, an actuator dedicated for moving the roll paper 7 toward the nozzle face 36 is not required.
