A support for patients with fractures of the lower limbs requiring tractor or X-rays consists of a bed (22) with two conical attachments (24) which together comprise the adjustable support (23) for the feet. The cones are set at right angles to the bed and can be turned eccentrically on their axes. Their face is at an angle of between 95 degrees and 115 degrees to the bed and they are kept under tension by a band of elastic which takes up the foot. This adjustable support holds the foot of the fractured leg in the caudal direction during traction and can be changed to hold it in the appropriate distal direction according to the leg axis. It may also incorporate base plates for X-ray cassettes. Changing the height and angle of the support is simple and causes minimal discomfort to the patient.
|
