Combination drug therapies comprising aminoglycoside antibiotics and n,n'-disubstituted guanidines

Methods and compositions are provided for treatment of infections, including Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacterial infections, comprising administering an aminoglycoside antibiotic in combination with a substituted guanidine or other compound as disclosed herein. Preferred methods and compositions of the invention will be effective against infections previously treated with aminoglycoside antibiotics, but with decreased occurrence of ototoxicity.
