The gas burner has burner bars (1) in pairs (2) supplied with a mixture of combustible gas and air via nozzles and mixing tubes. The distance between adjacent pairs of bars is greater than that between the bars in each pair. The flash-over burner (3) between the pairs is shorter than the bars. Gas is supplied to all the bars by a distributor pipe, which also supplies the flash-over burner.The flash-over burner has a group of outlets only at the free end. The mixing tube supplying the flash-over burner can be of smaller diameter than those supplying the bars. The bars and burner can be formed by sections of sheet-metal whose lengthwise edges are joined via fold-seams which are secured in a burner plate
