An inverter device (7) has an intermediate circuit (7b), which is at a higher voltage level than the vehicle electrical system. An energy accumulator (12) for the heating device (14) is charged from the intermediate circuit (7b) at a voltage higher than the vehicle electrical system (8). A heating control device (14) controls the feed to the heating device (14), taking electrical energy from the energy accumulator (12). The auxiliary starting unit is so formed that the feed to the heating device from the energy accumulator occurs at a raised voltage. The energy accumulator is connected directly into the intermediate circuit, and is a capacitor accumulator and/or a short time battery. The heating device is an incandescent plug, an incandescent pin plug, a heating plug and/or a heating flange.
