A dye having two reactive dye chromophores linked together by a bridging group carrying an azo moiety has formula (I) wherein: Ar1 is an optionally substituted arylene group; each of D<1> and D<2>, independently, is a chromophoric group; Ar2 is an optionally substituted aryl group; each of R<1>, R<2>, R<3> and R<4>, independently, is H or alkyl; and each of X<1> and X<2>, independently, is a labile atom or group.
