Vacuum panel with toxic getter

A vacuum insulation panel has a heat-insulating mantle within which the pressure is reduced and a vacuum getter. The mantle captures and fixes any gas or water vapour passing through from the outside inwards or vice versa. The getter has: (i) a sheath (1,6,6') which is made at least in part from a material which is gas and/or water-permeable, but which is impermeable for the getter material (2,3) and/or; (ii) a substance (4) is mixed to the getter (2,3) which converts the toxic getter material to a non-toxic substance in the presence of water vapour, and/or; (iii) the getter is incorporated in the panel in such a way that it can be removed.
