A portable drive system for artificial heart comprising: a blood pump (1) having axis sealing means of a rotation axis (13) using a contact blood seal (18); a system drive section (45) including purge solution circulation means (20) for circularly supplying a purge solution to the blood seal (18), pump control means (30) for driving the blood pump (1), power supply means (33) for supplying power to each means, display means (40) for displaying the operating state of each means, communication means (50) for transmitting information to outside, and control means (100) for controlling each means; a carrier section (60) capable of mounting and carrying the system drive section (45); and a connection section (70) for connecting the blood pump (1) and the system drive section (45). The portable drive system for artificial heart which has high safety and reliability and which is small in size and weight and easy to use so as to broaden the living scope may be provided.
