PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable determining which side is the front of the body by seeing an ultrasonic image when performing ultrasonography inside a coelom. SOLUTION: An out-of-the-body microphone 14 is provided in addition to an ultrasonic probe 12 for use inside coeloms. The out-of-the-body microphone 14 detects ultrasonic waves radiated from the ultrasonic probe 12 for use inside coeloms. A peak detecting part 34 determines a reference azimuth according to the signals detected. When a peak is detected by the peak detecting part 34, a marker signal 104 is output from the peak detecting part 34 to an image forming part 28. An image of a marker shown later is thereby combined with an ultrasonic image, and this composite image is displayed on a display 36. An out-of-the-body wave transmitter can also be used in place of the out-of- the-body microphone 14. In this case, the ultrasonic probe 12 for use inside coeloms receives the ultrasonic waves transmitted from the out-of-the body wave transmitter, in addition to the ultrasonic waves transmitted by itself. |
