ANTIFOULING AGENT FOR WATER-BASED COATING MATERIAL, FOULING-RESISTANT WATER-BASED COATING COMPOSITION, AND METHOD OF USING THE SAME

An antifouling agent which, when added to a water-based coating material, can significantly improve the fouling resistance of the coating material and the prevention of soaking thereof with fouling substances, does not influence the weatherability and water resistance of the coating material, and has excellent compatibility with the water-based coating material; and a fouling-resistant water-based coating composition containing the antifouling agent. The antifouling agent is a modified alkoxysilane condensate having at least one polyoxyalkylene group and alkoxyl groups, and each repeating unit of the polyoxyalkylene group has 1 to 4 carbon atoms while each alkoxyl group has 1 to 4 carbon atoms. Especially preferably, the polyoxyalkylene group is polyoxyethylene and the alkoxyl group is ethoxy.
