Colour temperature correction apparatus e.g. for digital still picture camera

The apparatus includes a determination unit which determines the type of a light source based on a combination of a first electrical signal and a second electrical signal. The first electrical signal is received in response of infrared light and the second electrical signal is received in response to ultraviolet light. A correction unit corrects a colour temperature of the input colour signal according to the type of the light source. Preferably, a infrared beam detection unit and an ultraviolet beam detection unit are provided for generating the electrical signals. A colour temperature detector receives the input colour signal, the first signal of the infrared beam detection unit and the second signal of the ultraviolet beam detection unit and determines the type of the light source.
