A beverage-producing sachet (2) containing, for example, chocolate powder consists of two laminates (4, 6) bonded at their edges (8) and having a base seam (10) into which is bonded a conduit (12), e.g. of rigid plastics. Means for closing the conduit include a pressure-sensitive seal (14) adhesively bonding the inner faces of the two laminates together. Upon introduction of pressurised water through a nozzle (16), the seal (14) ruptures to enable the chocolate powder/hot water mixture to exit the sachet through the conduit (12) to provide a hot chocolate beverage. The presence of the conduit ensures a predictable opening for the sachet.
