In a polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) membrane hydrophone for measuring pressure amplitudes in liquid media with metal electrodes applied to the electret foil, the metal electrodes are given a carbon coating (4) with a monomolecular layer of bound amino groups on its surface. Also claimed is a method of making the hydrophone.
