The device has an optically readable coding formed of parallelogram-shaped or rectangular sections in two complementary colours. The complementary colours act, so that either light of one colour is predominantly reflected and light of the other colour is predominantly absorbed, or so that both colours are predominantly reflected, or absorbed.
