Film shaping and backfilling

In a process for manufacturing a thin wall, backfilled component a plastic film (3) is clamped in a two-part injection mould (1) and a tool core (2) moves forward to form the film in a cavity (6) in the negative tool half (4). The core (2) is then partially retracted and the resulting chamber is filled with thermoplastic through a nozzle (10) at the head of the core.
