Speech output generation method for vehicle navigation system

The method involves loading an instruction list (221) with speech commands (L) in a work memory (2) of a microprocessor (1), associating an output time (t) with each speech command of the list, and selecting a speech command from the instruction list by the microprocessor because of a manoeuvre to be executed. A speech output of the selected command through the speech synthesis system (3) is caused by the microprocessor to a point in time, preceding the manoeuvre to be executed at least for the output time of the speech command.
