The supply system has a hot water reservoir (1) in a pipe system (2) with a demand operated valve (3) and a supply pump (4). The pump is occasionally switched on and off by an on-off switch (14) when the valve is closed. The on-off switch is open between the times of use of the valve. The switch can be switched on immediately before the user demands hot water and is opened again after water has been drawn.
