A pipe joint comprising a main cylinder body (1) having a fluid passage (2) and a hollow sealing piston (5) which is slidably mounted in the main cylinder body in a sealed manner and of which the tip end projects from the tip end of the main cylinder body and enables fluid connection to a pipe body (6) being connected, wherein a plurality of swingable chuck pawls (12) are supported by the tip end of the main cylinder body and held by an operating sleeve (22), which is axially movable on the main cylinder body (1), in a position where the pipe body (6) being connected is grasped. In order to prevent the operating sleeve from opening the chuck pawls (12) when pressure is existent in the fluid passage (2), a pressing sleeve (26) forming a space (34) together with the main cylinder body (1) is movably mounted on the main cylinder body (1). A pressure fluid is conducted to the space (34) through the fluid passage (2), and the pressure in the space (34) causes the pressing sleeve (26) to move toward the operating sleeve (22) to prevent the operating sleeve (22) from returning.
