Modular automation device with side-by-side mountable basic modules

The automation device has a number of basic input/output modules (10) fitted in series to a common carrier rail (20), the basic modules provided with external contacts for connection to an electronic module which does not have external contacts. Each basic module contacts the adjacent basic module (10') and is provided with control lines and current connection lines extending between complementary connection contacts (1,2) on opposite sides of basic module.
