PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a high-density characteristic and durability by incorporating a monoester formed by esterification of a diester of a bivalent alcohol and unsatd. fatty acid and only the one hydroxyl group of the bivalent alcohol with the unsatd. fatty acid into a magnetic layer. SOLUTION: The amt. of the diester and monoester to be added to the magnetic layer is preferably 2 to 10 wt.% of the weight of the magnetic layer and the content of the monoester in the magnetic layer is preferably 8 to 12 wt.% of the weight of the diester. The layers consisting of the magnetic layer and the lower layer contains the monoester preferably at 8 to 12 wt.% of the sum total Swd of the diester and preferably, the monoester is also incorporated into the magnetic layer and the lower layer respectively. The bivalent alcohol which is the constitution raw material of the diester or monoester is HO-R<1> -OH and the unsatd. fatty acid is preferably R<2> -COOH.
