PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain cost reduction a of device by reducing a memory capacity and a circuit scale of a processing circuit in the case of decoding/displaying coded image data of a high definition image. SOLUTION: A variable length decoding unit 6 and an IQ.IDCT unit 7 start decoding processing for input coded data, a pixel reduction filter 8 limits the number of horizontal pixels equal to or less than that of horizontal pixels of the display device, a motion compensation unit 9 compensates a motion of the data with reference image data from a pixel shift filter 10. The decoded image data whose horizontal pixel number is limited and whose motion is compensated are stored in a memory 2, from which display image data are read. The display image data are given to a scanning line conversion filter 13, in which the data are converted into image data with a scanning line number and a scanning type in matching with those of the display device, the resulting data are given to a horizontal pixel interpolation filter 12, where the data are subject to horizontal pixel interpolation processing so as to be in matching with the horizontal pixel number of the display device when number of horizontal pixels is small and the resulting data are fed to the display device via a display unit 11. |
