<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery-cooling device which can cool a plurality of batteries uniformly with good performance, using the cooling effect of a thermo- siphon system similar to the heat pipe. SOLUTION: A plurality of batteries 14 mutually connected electrically are accommodated in a sealed vessel 10, and a cooler 27 is provided in communication with an internal space 24 of this vessel, and a low-boiling point refrigerant is filled over the entire area of the internal space 24 and inside the cooler 27. Then the refrigerant is evaporated through heat absorption from the batteries 14 over the entire area of the internal space 24, and the produced gas refrigerant rises into the cooler 27. In the cooler 27, the gas refrigerant is cooled and condensed by a cooling pipe 29, in which a low-temp. refrigerant of the refrigerating cycle for air conditioning flows. The condensed liquid refrigerant returns by its own weight to the surrounding area of the batteries 14 inside the vessel 10.</p> |
