PREPARATIONS AND METHODS FOR THE TREATMENT OF THE ALIMENTARY CANAL

The preparations contain complex bismuth compounds, such asbismuth salts and polyacrylate, e.g. carbomer which can beincorporated in by pharmaceutical compositions for rectal, oraland oral delayed release administration. The complex compounds canbe combined with an antibiotic such as tetracycline and anantiprotozoal agent, such as metronidazole for use in thetreatment of Helicobacter pylori infection. The treatment ofintestinal infections using complex compounds ofbismuthpolyacrylate or other bismuth preparations is alsodescribed.
