The reader has terminals (7,8) which allow connection to a vehicle electronic control unit and a central computer and also includes a microcomputer (4), display (5) and keyboard (6). An interchangeable cartridge (3) with EPROM (9) enables the keyboard (6) and display (5) to be used to examine fault coding on various types of vehicle.
