PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quantitatively evaluate the magnitude of gradation characteristics (gradation jump and gradation crush) to be sensed by a person. SOLUTION: The optical information of at least one of the lightness information or concentration information of an image outputted to an input signal to an image outputting device is used for evaluating the gradation characteristic in this image evaluating method. Difference of the optical information between adjacent gradation levels is calculated (a step 102), whether or not the obtained value is not less than the threshold of a person for the optical information is determined (a step S103), and when it is determined that the value is not less than the threshold, gradation jump values are calculated and accumulated for all gradations (a step S104). |
