The invention refers to a procedure and a device for sandblasting spark plugs used in spark ignition engines, by using a jet of sand particles sprayed by a jet of compressed air onto the surface to be cleaned. The procedure for sandblasting spark plugs includes the guided spraying of the sand particles onto the spark plug to be cleaned, in optimised conditions of the working parameters, namely: the velocity of the sand particle when exiting a guiding tube should be larger than the velocity of the sand particle which could break the calamine layer settled on the plug contacts, but lower than the velocity of the sand particle that could break the sand particle itself; the distance between the end of the discharge tube and the electrodes of the spark plug depends on the internal diameter of the discharge tube. According to the procedure, the device for sandblasting spark plugs includes a nozzle through which the sand particles are sprayed onto the electrodes of the spark plug, and consists of an oval-shaped enclosed casing [1] made up of two halves connected to one another by some flanges; the upper half of the casing is provided at the side with a filter [2] that is fixed to its wall, and with a threaded piece [14] in which the sparkplug to be cleaned is mounted, in the centre. The lower half of the casing is provided, centrally and coaxially against the spark plug, with a nozzle [10] which is partially submerged in sand; between the spark plug and the nozzle, and also coaxial to them, there is a flared collector [11] that ends in a guiding tube [13].
