摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a piezoelectric vibrating gyro whose structure is simple, in which an input/output terminal can be connected without using a lead wire and which is made small and thin by a method wherein a plurality of electrodes for drive and detection are formed so as to face the central part of a piezoelectric plate having a polarization component parallel to its main face and the electrodes for detection in the even number of pieces are made symmetric with respect to a straight line parallel to the main face. SOLUTION: In a piezoelectric vibrator 1, an electrode 11 is formed on one face of a piezoelectric plate having a polarization axis component parallel to its main face, and electrodes 12, 13 which are symmetric with respect to a straight line parallel to the direction of the polarization axis component parallel to the main face are formed so as to face the electrode 11 on the other face. Then, when a driving voltage at a frequency nearly equal to a resonance frequency in the thickness slide mode of the piezoelectric plate is applied to the electrodes 12, 13 via resistances 20, 21, a slide vibration in an energy-confinement mode in the direction of the polarization axis component parallel to the main face is generated in a region in which the electrode 11 is faced with the electrodes 12, 13. In this state, when the piezoelectric plate is turned around an axis at right angles to the main face, a thickness slide vibration at right angles to the direction of an excited thickness slide vibration is generated due to the Coriolis force.
