<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To supervise status of remote places using images through utilizing asymmetrical high speed modems by providing a toll center device, which selects devices in plural remote places according to the status information of remote devices, receives image data transferred therefrom and displays them on a screen. SOLUTION: Plural remote devices 200 and 214 maintain normal communication lines with a toll center device 280 respectively at all times and transfer image data of remote places to the device 280 through channels 220 and 224. A status supervisory controller 289 in the device 280 selects the images and status information of remote places which are selected by an operator and supervises the status of selected remote places. That is, each camera 202 and 208 converts an optical signal of a place to be monitored into an electrical signal. Each image signal encoder 204 and 210 encodes analog video signals outputted from the cameras with digital video data and transfers them to each slave modem 206 and 212.</p> |
