<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for detecting a metal wherein the presence of a metallic foreign matter in an object to be inspected can be detected in high sensitivity. SOLUTION: An alternating magnetic field that a transmitting coil 2 generates is distributed on the circumference of an object to be inspected and its non- magnetic material metal-made packaging part T in parallel by disposing the transmitting coil 2 and a receiving coil 3 in a T-shape so that the transmission coil 2 is vertical to the receiving coil 3 and one end of the receiving coil 2 is positioned in the substantial center of the receiving coil 3. The presence of a metallic foreign matter in an object to be inspected W is judged on the basis of change of the magnetic field produced by moving the object to be inspected W in the parallel magnetic field.</p> |
