PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To add a specified function without adding and mounting a separate optical function element by heating, fusing and drawing plural fibers provided in the groove of a substrate in parallel and making light incident on or outgoing from the end of a cut coupled part. SOLUTION: The protective coating parts of plural optical fibers 3 are peeled to expose clad parts and the clad parts are mutually tightly fixed, heated and fused and drawn. A branching function and multiplexing and demultiplexing functions are set by adjusting drawing length, that is, coupling length at the time of heating. The coupled part is installed in the substrate 1 having the groove part in a state where it is perfectly included, and fixed by putting a sealing member for fixing therein. Furthermore, an upper cover for fixing 4 is attached so as to fix the whole including the protective coating part. Thereafter, the fiber 3 is cut at the end face of the substrate 1 and a light incident and outgoing surface is ground. Thus, a fiber array possessing distributed coupling having the branching, multiplexing and demultiplexing functions is constituted. |
