PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image forming device which prevents the occurrence of voids due to the physical properties of the material of an intermediate transfer belt itself and can give a high quality image by using polyimide resin as the material of the intermediate transfer belt. SOLUTION: In the image forming device, an electrostatic latent image formed on an image carrier 1 is made visible with a developing device 4 and primarily transferred as a toner image to an intermediate transfer belt 7 and the toner image on the belt 7 is secondarily transferred to a recording medium P with a bias roll 10. The intermediate transfer belt 7 is made of polyimide resin leaving <=1.0 ppm solvent at the time of film formation. Carbon black or a tin oxide type metal oxide is suitably used as an electrically conductive agent dispersed in the resin material. A film forming method adopted is, e.g. a centrifugal forming method or a casting method by which a film forming stock soln. prepd. by dissolving the resin component in an org. polar solvent such as N-methylpyrrolidone is cast on a cylindrical metallic mold or a metallic sheet and the resin component is dried and heated at a high temp. |
