CONTACT SENSOR ASSEMBLY

A contact sensor assembly consists of a supporting element (10, 12) which has a cavity (16), said cavity having an opening (18) toward the surface of the supporting element (10, 12). A sensor element (20) is located in the cavity (16) and a layer (22, 32) made of deformable material is laid over the opening (18) located above the cavity (16) thus sealing them both. The cavity (16) is filled with a pressure transmission medium. Exerted pressure on the layer (22, 32) made of deformable material passes through the opening (18) and is transmitted by the pressure transmission medium to the sensor element (20). The cross-sectional area (18') of the opening (18) is perpendicular to the direction in which the pressure is exerted and is smaller than the cross-sectional area (16') of the cavity.
