<p>A steam applicator for processing paper comprising a center steam supply conduit having at least one orifice in the bottom of the supply conduit for providing wet steam to exit the at least one orifice and circulate therearound. A longitudinal coaxial outer conduit having a rectangular cross section, oriented with the angles extending upwardly and downwardly, surrounding the supply conduit to provide a path for the wet steam. Openings are formed in the top of the outer conduit such that wet steam exiting the at least one orifice travels upwardly in a controlled manner through the openings. The coaxial outer conduit provides a trough for condensate from the wet steam to collect in the bottom of the outer conduit.</p> |
