A moulding tool for manufacturing components by backfilling or compression moulding of a decorative layer(D) and a plastic material(M) has an external slip clamping system(S) with a clamping gap(K) which is closed to a specific width by a force applicator(9) prior to tool(F) closure. In a backfilling or compression moulding process the decorative material(D) is positioned in the clamping gap(K), the gap is set to a specified width and the layer(D) is allowed controlled slip to conform to the cavity profile under the pressure of the plastic during the backfilling or compression moulding stage.
